The Retro Burger Bar

retro-burger-bar-018-2Your jive burger dive! The Retro Burger Bar, Sports Bar in downtown  San Jose del Cabo, Los Cabos, Mexico
Revel in nostalgia at the grooviest burger joint in San José del Cabo. There’s a long list of burger choices, but you have to try the Lambourghini. It’s named for the seasoned ground lamb that is piled high with sundried tomatoes, pesto, feta, arugula, red onion, tomato marmaladem and tzatziki and served with house-cut sea salt fries and a house-made pickle.

Habanero’s Gastro Grill and Tequila Bar

Chef Tadd Chapman’sHabanero’s Gastro Grill and Tequila Bar in Plaza Las Misiones, San Jose del Cabo was for a quite some
time a best-kept secret by locals.

Habenero’s Gastro habaneros-gastro-grill-143aGrill & Tequila Bar offers the diner gourmet Mexican fusion cuisine at affordable prices. The sidewalk bistro reminds one of a tourist’s fantasy come true where one wishes to find some small off-the-beaten-path place featuring outstanding, creative food at a bargain. It’s not in Havana nor hidden on some quaint Mexican village side street, and despite being located in a Spanish styled bank plaza next to the Mayan Palace Golf course, Habeñeros is a diner’s dream-come-true..

El Vaquero Steak House

House of Prime Rib
San José del Cabo, Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico

The House of Prime Rib. “We invite you to live a unique experience, that you will never forget”

el-vaquero-steak-interior One of the most elegant restaurants in Los Cabos has to be El Vaquero. From the moment you set foot inside the historic building, you feel as if you’ve walked into a five-star restaurant in Beverly Hills. The service staff is attentive, the attention to detail is unmatched, the décor is rich yet comfortable, and the quality of food is spectacular.

The restaurant’s architectural and interior design is timeless. The architecture features exposed hand-made original wooden beams, locally carved furniture, original stained-glass windows, and a horseshoe shaped bar carved from a single tree taken from the nearby town of Miraflores. Each section of the restaurant has its own history and meaning.

Without a doubt, El Vaquero has a menu selection that would rival the top steakhouses in North America. The house specialty is Prime Rib ($39 – $49), and it’s easy to see why. The Executive Chef was recruited from the top prime rib restaurant in San Francisco to display his culinary talents for the privileged few who dine at El Vaquero. Prepared table-side, the prime rib is available in three distinct mouth-watering cuts, and served with all of the traditional accompaniments.

In addition to the brilliant prime rib offerings, El Vaquero’s menu expands to include various salads, soups, seafood, steaks, and chops. One chef specialty certainly worth considering is the colossal “Azure” Baja shrimp appetizer served with tangy cocktail sauce ($14). El Vaquero also includes many healthy offerings like their signature salad bowl made with all fresh local organic produce. The salad is prepared table-side and features roasted red and yellow peppers, red beets, chopped eggs, and house dressing ($7).

For the perfect finale to the evening, the dessert menu has a temptation for every sweet-tooth. Or if you prefer a sweet cocktail to dessert, try the house-made refreshing cucumber martini, created by the restaurant manager himself, Ricaro Espinoza.

el-vaquero-exteriorEl Vaquero is open every day 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and the bar is open 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Visa, Master Card, American Express accepted. The restaurant is closed on Sundays August thru November. Call for reservations 624-105-2703.
